Strategic Planning

In support of A Washington DC long-term care facility with 122 year legacy of providing LTC to patients and residents in the WDC area, the organization’s Board of Director’s needed to develop a strategic plan that clearly articulated/ outlined a set of operational strategies and proposed actions that the Home could and should use to (1) improve services and (2) reduce costs. Our work resulted in a thorough game plan that was well received by the committee members, the administrator and the board of directors.

The Institute was hired to lead the strategic planning process and develop a solid, strategic game plan for moving their business forward. The Institute successfully and effectively led a group of 10 committee members, consulted with a wide range of internal stakeholders and worked with an associated consulting group to develop a comprehensive plan that addressed the board requirements. The plan outlined 5 strategies and a comprehensive set of goals and actions designed to help the organization make improvements in Clinical Care, Containment of Costs, Developing and Marketing the Home’s Business and Managing External Regulatory Pressures.

Self-Directed Learning Library

Background: More than 35 years ago Malcolm Knowles wrote a book entitled, Self-Directed Learning. His premise was that the role of teacher and student were collaborative ones in that both were learners and teachers with the singular aim of helping "learners" learn how to take more responsibility for their own learning. The Institute’s SDLL seeks to foster this aim and challenge our library visitors and patrons to “make the library work for you” whether you are a teacher or student.
